About

Sims grew up here in Seattle and attended Roosevelt High School. After graduating with honors from Kenyon College, he worked for several years as an advocate and organizer for the State Public Interest Research Groups. He then returned home to attend the University of Washington Law School. There, Sims served as Executive Articles Editor for the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal, he was a Member of the Moot Court Honor Board, and he co-founded GreenLaw, an environmental litigation project. Since graduating, Sims has returned to U.W. Law as an adjunct faculty member, teaching practical trial advocacy.

Background and Experience

Sims has over a decade of experience litigating professional negligence, product liability, and catastrophic injury cases in both state and federal courts. In addition to his focus on product liability and personal injury cases, Sims has a particular interest in professional negligence cases involving legal and medical malpractice, including birth injury. He is known among his peers for his trial preparation, skill, trial strategy, and professionalism. Sims is the vice-chair of the WSBA Character and Fitness Board, and a former chair of both the WSBA Professionalism Committee and the WSBA Lawyers Fund for Client Protection Board. Sims is a writer and frequent lecturer on topics such as litigation technique, product liability, legal malpractice, and ethics is civil litigation. His current work includes a chapter in the Washington State Association for Justice Product Liability Deskbook.

He now lives in West Seattle with his wife and their two boys. When he is not practicing law, he can be found coaching T-ball or stream side, casting flies to reluctant trout.
